Tips for Sterilizing Petri Dishes

1. Fill the cooker with water to create steam. Dry heat sterilization can cause uneven heating, leading to temperatures higher than 250 ℉, which may melt the petri dish. For best results, use high-pressure steam sterilization.
2. Ensure dishes do not directly touch the surface of the pressure cooker, as direct contact with a heated surface can cause melting.
3. Run autoclavable petri dishes and agar through a 15 PSI pressure cooker or Instant Pot at 250℉ for 45-60 minutes.
